I can smell the campfire and hear the mosquitoes! It’s got to be summer!!
Graduation is over, Memorial Day is behind us, and it is officially the start of summer! Whether you are heading abroad, or staying home, vacation is on the minds of many. What exciting places are you headed to this year? If you are staying home, what does that stay-cation look like? Summer reminds us of those once-a-year festivals in our hometowns. What is your favorite? Let us know so we can feature you in the next issue of the newsletter.
In our house, summer means grilling season. There are many things you can throw on the grill for quick, healthy alternatives – including desserts! Throw those garden veggies in a bag with your favorite sauce or rub, and voila! A great low-calorie meal that tastes fantastic with half the calories of a regular cooked meal. What is your favorite thing to throw on the grill? Looking for something sweet? Peaches and pineapple are very yummy grilled when grilled!
We have lots of great things in the works at SFM in the coming weeks. The Dragon’s game, People Week, and a few local store marketing events to top it off. Father’s Day is next weekend- how are you celebrating dad? We interviewed Jason Tumbusch, General Manager at our Sidney location about his upcoming vacation plans & the joys of fatherhood.
To all the dads: Happy Father’s Day. Cheers to you all for the hard work you do in setting the example for your kiddo’s. SMF appreciates everything you do for us, and your commitment to make our restaurants great!
This is your newsletter. Please let Lindsay or I know if you want anything featured or have any ideas. We would appreciate it!
Get out and slay the day- YOU are WORTH IT!

We talked to Jason Tumbusch, GM of our Sidney store and dad to 3 (plus 2 bonus kiddos!) what makes being a father special to him and how he likes to enjoy summer with his family.
What is your favorite part about being a dad?
My favorite part of being a dad is being able to come home from work and as I walk in the door I immediately hear “DAD!!”, with hugs to follow!!
What has been your favorite family vacation?
Anytime we go on vacation is my favorite! But I would have to say my favorite family vacation is anytime we get to go to the beach. I get to see the kid’s first reaction to the sand and the ocean and get to watch them play for hours on the beach. We usually trade it up between going to Tennessee to see the mountains or going to the beach.
What are your three best accomplishments since becoming a father?
First, being where I am to be able to be flexible to watch my kids play sports and dance. To be present and watch them follow their dreams. Second, it’s a great accomplishment to be able to help my children grow and develop with what they are passionate about. And lastly, teaching them everything they need to know as they grow older and need to know certain things through every age no matter how old. As I have kids that range from 9 months to 17 years old they all need to know different things at different stages in life.
Personal Development
Stephen Covey’s best-selling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, provides a comprehensive framework for developing healthy habits to make you a more prosperous and effective individual.
Many people seek quick solutions to their problems by looking for shortcuts and techniques from successful individuals or organizations. However, shortcuts often fail to address the root cause of the problem. Instead, as Covey emphasizes, the problem lies in how we perceive it.
To bring about genuine and lasting change, we need to undergo a paradigm shift, which means changing our fundamental beliefs, assumptions, and values rather than merely modifying our attitudes and behaviors on the surface level.
That’s where the seven habits of highly effective people come in:
1. Be Proactive
2. Begin With the End in Mind
3. Put First Things First
4. Think Win-Win
5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
6. Synergize
7. Sharpen the Saw
The seven habits in this book will help you move from a state of dependence,
to independence, and finally to interdependence.

- 6 long Bamboo skewers (or metal)
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced
- 2 large bell peppers, cut into pieces
- 2 medium zucchini, sliced into rounds
- 1 large red onion, cut
- 1/2 cup Olive Oil

- 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Directions
1. If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 30-60 minutes before using them on the grill, to prevent burning.

3. Thread the chicken and vegetables onto the skewers.
4. Add the kabobs to a casserole dish and pour marinade on top. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
