Scott Family McDonald’s held a Wellness Day on October 6th in Piqua, Ohio to promote the health and wellness of their employees and the communities in which their restaurants reside. Scott Family McDonald’s, a local business franchise owning 15 McDonald’s locations in the Midwestern Ohio area, held this event that featured over 11 local health and wellness vendors. The vendors in attendance at the event were Miami County Public Health, Brightview, Pink Ribbon Girls, Dayton Children’s Hospital, United Way, Anytime Fitness, SafeHaven, Shelby County Public Health, Miami County Dental Clinic, Health Partner’s Free Clinic, and the Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services.
“Hosting a health and wellness day is a great way to share information with crew, families, and the community about healthy eating, physical activity, health services, and other local health and wellness resources. Plus, it’s an opportunity to build relationships with local businesses and community organizations, who may be able to provide ongoing support to our business health initiatives. At Scott Family McDonald’s we value health and wellness and want to do our part to benefit the communities in which our restaurants reside.” Says Lindsay Mikesell, one of the event coordinators. Another wellness day geared toward children is planned for Spring 2022.

Brightview in Piqua offers same-day treatment for addiction recovery. They see patients with or without insurance that tackle recovery from alcohol to opioid treatment and beyond. They create individualized treatment plans tailored to the needs of each patient. During an initial assessment, time is taken to understand the experiences with addiction our patients have gone through and any co-occurring disorders they may be struggling with. Mental health issues like anxiety or depression are common in those who struggle with addiction. However, targeted treatment can lead to long-term positive outcomes.
The Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services is dedicated to planning, funding, monitoring and evaluating substance abuse and mental health services for Miami, Darke, and Shelby counties; working diligently to see that the services are cost-effective and of the highest possible quality; informing the community about these services, and ensuring that people have access to them. One Guest stated that ‘They had a great Mental Health Assessment you could do at Wellness Day. He had a big tablet you could do it on or was handing out little pamphlets that you could take it on your own computer or phone at home. Some of the assessments included anxiety, depression, PTSD, alcohol abuse, etc. It’s all anonymous and gives you resources to reach if these are issues you are dealing with.’
Anytime Fitness is a welcoming gym that exists to help you get to a healthier place – by giving the right support at the right times, in the ways you want. At the event, Anytime Fitness offered tests to help determine your strengths and weaknesses and had some fun games to play. Their locations are open 24/7 and give you access to plenty of equipment, classes, and programs!
